I was thrilled with my experience with my new Trek EX 9.0, and it really measured up well against other bikes I’ve tried. I’ve continued to like it ever since. Not only does the bike ride well, she’s got personality as well, and nothing like it has ever given me a better ride.

To begin with its 9.5 brother was noticeably faster than other 5 inch bikes we tested in races last year at the Bontrager event. I was pleased with how it roared around the trees and lunged out of corners leaving all the other bikes in the dust. All I had to do was just kick back and enjoy the ride. Just the bike plus hard-earned skill was all that was needed to blow the other bikes away.

I’ve ridden the bike hard since our initial break-in, so hard that I’ve had to change out parts with lots of test kits, particularly since it’s frequently good quality takes it through so many. The bike is so good that test kits just can’t stand up. When new dirt bikers ask me what is a good choice for a bike, I always recommend this one. I don’t think you can find a better bike for the money.

Because the Fuel EX 9.9 has a stiffer frame than models of previous years, it does better in many categories. It climbs hills better, is more maneuverable in difficult switchbacks. Just 24 pounds and superior frame stiffness, the bike is easy to ride rigorously uphill. In places like flatter trails where rocks, branches and other debris limit speed primarily, the EX 9.9 performs without packing up or becoming harsh.

In our initial trials with the EX 9.9 we chose trails that had many, many roots and rocks. Doing so gave us a chance to check out the shock and ABP. We were pleases. The EX 9.9′s rear wheel stayed to the ground and the suspension didn’t exhibit any mid stroke deadness, nor was it held back by the breaking. Even at the slowest speeds over extremely rocky terrain, the EX also responded well because of its front end-frame stiffness. It took the worry out of planting my face in the rocks.

All in all, the EX 9.9 is a better quality bike that last year’s model. From frame feel to suspension to technical action, it is truly a fine bike. It is certainly one of the best bikes like it.

After spending hours of riding time on the EX 9.9, we discussed the benefits and the cons of the new bike. On the trails that had lots of roots and rocks, we saw the beauty of the ABP and the shock system. The bike’s back wheel stayed flush to the ground and the suspension left nothing to be desired. It wasn’t even bothered by braking. The EX 9.9 also responded well at snail speeds over the most trying rocks possible and the bike is worth every penny we spent. We attribute its ability to travel the rocks to the excellent front-end frame’s extra stiffness. It was nice to be able to test and to avoid a mutilated face! All in all, the ’09 Fuel EX 9.9 is quite superior to last year’s model. It’s technically more advanced with its superior suspension action, frame feel, and too many other things to mention in this short review, but you won’t be disappointed if you are looking for a bike in this price range and go with this one. I’d recommend it to anyone. It’s one of the best in its class.

I test rode many, many high end bikes before I settled on the Trek Fuel EX 8 , so I expected to be happy with my purchase, and boy was I right. Not only did it perform unbelievably well, it more than exceeded my expectations.

The suspension is terrific, the bike handles like no other, and its individual parts are for the most part really quite high quality. And with all that, its looks top it off.
Well, I am a picky rider, and most serious riders are, so I will tell you that I did have to replace some things like the seat that was a little too hard, the grips, and the pedals because they are too hard to get on and off. I’ve had lots of difficulty trying to adjust them, and it’s time to concede that I need better, more workable ones.

Well, naturally there are a few other downsides as well. Nothing’s perfect, right? Both front and back breaks squealed after I rode the bike the first time. I wasn’t happy that they needed an adjustment so soon, even if it was free. After a month the gear shifts needed to be adjusted too, but since I have been riding the bike pretty hard for several days per week, that might not be too surprising. Nevertheless, would I recommend this bike to a friend? You bet! All in all, I am quite pleased with this bike.

In general, the Trek bikes Fuel EX 7 and the WSD model for women are excellent bikes. There is nothing to complain about parts specifications, and I anticipate that it will hold up very nicely over a long period of time. With the Trek Fuel EX 7, Trek bikes in general deserve their fine reputation for pairing excellent components to create an excellent bike with few adjustments needed from the beginning. I was pleased with its initial performance.

We were very happy with the Fuel EX 7’s ability to corner well, and the 100mm RockShox Reba fork performed well under even the roughest conditions.

After many rough hours of testing, the Fuel EX7 held up with no problems. One mark of a good bike is how the brakes hold up, and both this bike’s brakes and drive train performed perfectly. The only problem we had was with the rear shocks as when compared to the RockShox MC3. But because the EX 7 was not particularly designed for mountains, I can’t fault it for that. This bike does ride much better when not in the mountains. When in the mountains, changing it to the Motion Control setting will fix most of the problems.

My new Trek Fuel EX 69 is best used for mountain biking and for racing, but it can also be used for casual riding and urban biking. I love this bike because of its relatively light-weight aluminum frame and reliable parts. Even the smallest size, like the one I have, weighs less than 27l pounds. In addition to being lightweight, it has balanced suspension, is durable, handles well, has great components, and is tubeless ready. When doing hills the bike climbs like a typical 26 inch wheel mountain bike. It responds quickly in just the manner I expect. It flies over obstacles like logs. The going really gets rolling when I am flying down hill. When I am turning around tight bends, I just shift my weight to the front and let the bike take over in the back. I love this model of bike, and the money I spent was worth it. I am extremely happy with my new Trek Fuel EX 69R. It looks and rides beautifully. But the new buyer needs to know a few things. For example, this bike is not for beginners. Beginners need to start out with a 26 inch full-suspension hard tail in order to appreciate the differences this bike brings. Of course no model of bike is right for every purchaser, but I find this one a good compromise of the price and the quality that suits me.

Recently I bought my Trek Fuel EX 5.5 and I was thrilled with it. Overall I love this bike and can’t wait to get back on it. It is a great bang for the buck. In its price range, I don’t think I could have done better. During my usual routine with the bike I do really challenging hills and down hills that are fast and rugged. My EX 5.5 makes riding them a cinch.

One of my favorite things about the bike is its lock out on the suspension.

If you switch a lever it immediately turns into a hard tail, and that makes climbing ever so easy. Another good feature is that the completely adjustable air suspension that enables you to alter your bike, no matter what your size or weight might be. You will save time and trouble by not having to buy new springs. The only disappointment is the Bontrager tyres which are not up to the standards I would like. When I get a little extra cash I will replace them. The problem is that they skid too easily when riding down horizontal slopes, and they are the absolutely the loudest tires I’ve ever owned when you get to a section of the road. But would I recommend the bike? Sure. Get a few things changed out and have a great ride!

The great things about the Trek EX 9.8 are that it has a wonderful plush feel, probably because of it well-balanced suspension and the light-weight frame. Like any high end bike, it handles well and has a wealth of components. After researching many, many high quality bikes for quite a long time, I finally decided to trade in my old mountain bike last year. Then I needed to make a firm decision on which new one to buy. Well, I couldn’t have made a better choice. My old Santa Cruz Blur, a fine bike when I first bought it, it just did not hold a candle to my new Trek EX 9.8. Honestly, I don’t have any complaints at all with my new bike. When I compared my new Trek EX 9.8 to the previous EX 8 model, I discovered very quickly that the 9.8 was no disappointment. Although I’ve always considered the EX 8 to be a marvelous bike, the EX 9.8 is even better. It has every single feature the EX 8 has, but that’s not all. It has even more outstanding features. I wonder how Trek could have outdone itself on this new bike. I expect this one to last a long, long time.
